Conservators
Donated material can include photographs, diaries, club records, correspondence, newspaper cuttings, programmes and reports on community events.  Conservors carefully clean and dust the items. Then they enclose the material and pack it into acid-free folders or boxes. The material is catalogued with appropriate descriptions listed ready for the data entry volunteers.

Data Entry
FDCA uses a computer database call PastPerfect which is an internationally recognized cataloguing programme especially designed for small museums and community-based archives. This programme records all the archival material entered in by the data entry volunteers.  Researchers are able to visit the archive in Feilding and use key words for names as search terms to locate items of interest.

Storage
All boxed items are given accession number as well as their shelf location within the archive storeroom. Standard archival processes are followed to allow easy retrieval of items through recording box locations on the PastPerfect programme.

Research
Visitors are able to come to the FDCA on Thursdays 10am - 4pm to research. There are workers at FDCA who are willing to conduct requested research queries. A research fee applies. Photocopy and mailing charges will also apply.
